- 1First, we start by preparing the meat filling, placing it alongside the diced onion in a hot pan with a small cube of butter. We season the mixture with salt, pepper, and oregano, and cook it until browned.
- 2Finally, when the meat is browned, we add the mushrooms and wine, cooking until the alcohol has completely evaporated.
- 3We add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and water, then cover with a lid and cook until the sauce reduces completely.
- 4While we wait for the meat to cook, we move on to the second step and prepare the sauces.
- 5Bechamel sauce: In a small saucepan, melt the butter, then add the flour once the butter has fully melted.
- 6We cook the flour, then add the milk and nutmeg, stirring until the sauce thickens. We remove it from the heat and let it cool.
- 7Tomato sauce: In a small saucepan, heat a teaspoon of olive oil and sauté 2 cloves of garlic.
- 8We add the tomato paste, diced tomatoes, salt, pepper, and freshly chopped basil. Let it cook for 10 minutes, then set the sauce aside.
- 9Finally, we can start assembling. In a baking tray, we layer bechamel sauce, tomato sauce, and sliced potatoes, then repeat the process.
- 10We bake it in a preheated oven at 180°C with top and bottom ventilation for 30 minutes. Even if it takes a bit longer, the taste is absolutely excellent!
